The Story Behind the Picture: Luka

Epic 9A+ Roof Climbing in Croatia

Photo: Luka Tambača. This is Luka's story behind this amazing picture:

In winter of 2015, my friend Jernej Kruder discovered this mega overhang in Vrulja, Croatia, and immediately bolted a really hard looking project. The view is outstanding, it spreads over the Adriatic sea, Biokovo mountain and island of Brač.

Despite lots of bad weather, cold temps, broken holds, Jernej didn't give up on it. Three years later it became the hardest climb in Croatia with a proposed grade of 9a+ and name Dugi Rat. The same year Jernej also won the World Cup in bouldering.

Vrulja is now home to Croatia's hardest climb, and one of the most attractive climbing places in the area.
