Upsalite® is an ultra-absorbent form of magnesium carbonate invented by the Nanontechnology lab at the University of Uppsala, Sweden. It's the first form of chalk with a proven effect on friction, offering a 2x performance increase.

All Chalk Rebels skincare products are made in Europe. We produce under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) in accordance with ISO 22716.

We are based in Belgium and produce in Belgium, Spain, and Sweden.

And because we own our formulas, we can innovate in ways other brands can't. Switching to seawater-based chalk is only one small innovation. We have more good things coming out of our labs.

Chalk Rebels was started by two passionate climbers with decades of climbing experience. We saw first-hand how chalk over-use has changed our sport. 

Our once-beautiful rock has been bleached by chalk. The art of true on-sighting has been spoiled by ticked holds. And chalk-lungs have become a problem in dusty gyms.

We made it our goal to reduce the use of loose chalk powder in the climbing community.

Because we insist on “owning the formula”, we can innovate in ways other brands simply can't.

• Our "Repair Cream" was inspired by the science behind treatments for burn victims to create a cream that rebuilds skin quickly.

We believe sustainability is a path, not a destination. It’s impossible to be 100% sustainable. But we can take small steps towards becoming more sustainable every day.

We already took a first step towards sustainability by becoming a member of 1% for the Planet. Switching our production process to seawater-based chalk was our next step. And now with Magic Chalk, we offer the longest-lasting liquid chalk so climbers need less of it.
