Product Roadmap: What’s Next for CHALK REBELS?
At CHALK REBELS, we've been working hard over the last four years to build a comprehensive and high-quality product line for climbers. With the recent addition of our refillable chalk balls, we're proud to say that our chalk product lineup is now complete. We now offer everything from liquid chalk in two price categories, powder chalk in two price categories, and the newly introduced chalk balls.
Getting to this point has required significant investment in production capacity and ensuring a steady supply of raw materials. This allows us to scale production up or down as needed, so we can meet demand without compromising on quality. Now that we’ve established a strong foundation, we’re ready to introduce new types of products tailored to climbing gyms, including **whitelabel products** and a **zero-waste product line**.
New Offerings for Gyms
Our whitelabel products offer a fantastic opportunity for climbing gyms and retail partners. By co-branding chalk products, gyms can combine their brand strength with CHALK REBELS’ product quality. This means climbers get the same great performance they expect from us, but with the branding of their favorite gym or store.
The **zero-waste product line** is another exciting initiative for gyms. With this option, gyms can offer chalk refills directly to their climbers without any consumer packaging. This helps reduce packaging waste and supports a more sustainable approach to climbing. It’s a win-win for both climbers and the environment.
Packaging Challenges and Future Changes
Over the years, we’ve learned that reducing plastic waste in packaging is no easy feat. For example, in our liquid chalk formulas that contain alcohol, we’ve had to rely on plastic packaging due to the nature of the product. Similarly, we’ve faced durability challenges with paper-based packaging for chalk powder, as it’s not always strong enough to handle the rigors of daily use.
As a result, starting in 2025, we will offer both liquid and powder chalk in **recycled plastic packaging**. While we initially tried paper-aluminum pouches for the chalk powder, we discovered that many of these ended up in paper recycling instead of plastic recycling, where they belong. By switching back to fully recyclable plastic packaging, we aim to simplify the recycling process and improve sustainability.
Looking Ahead to 2025: Skincare Product Revamp
In 2025, we’re also planning a major revamp of our skincare product line. This includes new packaging, and we will once again re-evaluate our use of plastic on a product-by-product basis. Our goal is always to create the cleanest, most sustainable product possible. Where we can’t fully eliminate environmental impact, we continue to offset the damage we do through our support of environmental causes as a proud member of the **1% For The Planet** initiative.
As we continue to grow and evolve, our focus remains on delivering high-quality products while minimizing our environmental footprint. We’re excited about the future of CHALK REBELS, and we’re committed to making a positive impact on both the climbing community and the planet.
