Finger Care: Accupressure

Acupressure is a massage therapy technique based on the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that uses finger pressure to mobilize Chi—or life force energy—at specific spots on the body called acupressure points, which are also known as acupuncture points or acupoints. It’s supposed to activate your Chi and can reachand healany part of your body via energy meridians.

If you believe that’s hogwash, join the club! So why are climbers using these little Chinese acupressure rings on their fingers? Because one thing these rings have been proven to do is to increase blood flow. Nevermind that Chi because increasing blood flow is a sure-fire way to make sure soft tissue like tendons stay healthy and recover faster.

And it feels great after a hard climbing session. It provokes a slightly tingly relaxed feeling and is a soothing relief after the pain of pulling on crimps and slopers. These little acupressure rings are very easy to use and dirt-cheap. Just put them on your fingers and roll them back and forth. It’s a simple gesture with lots of benefits.

We've been handing out these little pressure rings as gifts & they're one of the items climbers are most excited about. Our climbers really really like these.
